My grandmother was an antique dealer in England in the 1940's and I started Victorian Gilt after many years of collecting antiques and vintage items, when I gave up teaching over twenty years ago.In the beginning I sourced the stock from Europe and America, and now I travel overseas at least twice a year to buy in the markets of Paris, and in particular to attend textile auctions and antique fairs in England.
As well as our regular customers and tourists the antique shop is a regular haunt of film companies, clothing designers, magazine stylists and New Zealand museums.
There have been many newspaper and magazine articles about the antique shop over the years, and our customers are as diverse as our range of goods.
I am passionate about my job, and am committed to the ideal of having one of the most interesting antique shops in the World.
